SMS Verification Program

Proudly Tip-Free (proudlytipfree.com) is a public directory of restaurants that do not expect tipping. We use SMS for one purpose only: sending a one-time verification code so a restaurant owner can prove they control a business they wish to manage on our site. This is transactional account verification (2FA / OTP) — we never send marketing or promotional texts.

How owners opt in

The opt-in happens inside the owner verification flow, which requires a signed-in owner account:

1. A restaurant owner creates an account and signs in.
2. They open their dashboard and select the listing for their restaurant.
3. They tap “Verify by phone.” Next to that button we display this consent language:

By tapping “Verify by phone,” you agree to receive a one-time verification code by SMS at your restaurant’s official public phone number. Message frequency is one message per verification request. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Tapping the button sends a single code by SMS to the restaurant’s official, publicly listed phone number (which we hold on file as curation data — the owner does not enter it). Consent is captured at that tap. Because this flow is behind an owner login, this page exists so the opt-in and program details are publicly viewable.

Message frequency

One message per verification request that the owner initiates. This is not a recurring or subscription program.

Privacy
